TO: Ipswitch Support (Tanya M. DeScott, et all):
CC: David (Product Marketing Manager, IMail Server)
CC: Imail Customers with issue.

I disagree strongly with the assessment given below, I think it has been
adequately demonstrated that other mails servers SMTP AUTH functions
properly where Imail fails.

Here is a list of IMAIL customers that have reported this problem and are
awaiting a more adequate response:

Kelly Britt -- "Need A Dot Com?" -- v6.03 -- 5000+ users [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Anthony Santen -- Saten.net -- v6.03 -- 2500+ users [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Edgar Taylor -- FIRST Internet Service -- 20000+ users
Bill Anderson -- Sterling Communications -- v6.03 -- 1000+ users

John Miller -- SAMnet 6.02 5000+ users [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Peter Sparrow -- Infodoor Networking -- Imail 5.09 -- 1000+ users

Philip Tam -- [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Daniel J. Vance -- [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Edgar D. Taylor -- [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Howard A. Brooks -- [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Scot Desort -- [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Jason Grant -- [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Steven Plautz -- [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Don Rueter -- [EMAIL PROTECTED]
MR. Peter S from South Africa (wants to stay anon, but I have his address,
just in case)

That is over a dozen of your customers having this problem just from an
email request to your list server!

This problem has been brought time and time again to your attention, and we,
frankly, are quite tired of this continued finger pointing and "we are still
looking at" type of response. It is clear that Netscape is not the only
browser that causes this problem. Responses such as "enter a range of IP's"
and "Avoid using Netscape whenever possible." are impossible to implement
given the nature of our businesses; most of us don't rely on dial-up (range
of IPs) service, nor can we dictate to thousands and thousands of users that
they should "Avoid using Netscape" whenever possible. Maybe they should
avoid sending email whenever possible, too?!

We are organizing together in hopes to bring IpSwitch to timley action on
this issue. We may seek any legal remedies available since your product
contiues to fail to function as advertised despite our many requests to
properly address this issue.

Read what Philip Tam just posted on your support list:
 He wrote:
"We use Eudora 4.0 & 4.2 client and all getting this SMTP Auth issues.
Version IMail 6.03 & approx. 300+ users. I now have smart users
complaining why "IT" bought this Rubbish !! What am I going to tell them ?
Or when they have enough, have no choice but switch to another email server
(e.g. freeware EMWAC, which $0 is paid)."

Netscape problem? ew yah...

I could go on and on as this is just a sample of the many publicly available
complaints concerning this feature, but I'm sure you are aware of this ...

Thank you for your attention,
Kelly Britt
