Leo,
A 'wrong state' message can be returned by a server, when it gets a command,
that does not match the 'state' of the expected (and accepted!) commands.
For example, in POP3, if one gives a 'RETR 1' (get message 1) command, but
have not completed loging in, the server might respond with 'wrong state'.
It was in the 'Authentification state', looking for login info, not in
'Message (if that is the right words!) retrevial state' which can only occur
after valid login is completed.
I'd close the email client, then open it again. If that does not change,
then close client and restart the workstation and see what happens from
there, when you try to reconnect. Logs from both the client and server may
be needed to troubleshoot your situation. You could try restarting the
server, too. Or stop/start the POP3/IMAP4/Web MSG services (one at a time,
starting with one your client is using!) and see what that does.
