It's not generally recommended, even discouraged, to mix applications, like 
postfix, and firewalling in the same machine.

That said, a FreeBSD machine with squid for transparent proxy or ipfilter 
for stateful packet filtering can provide good firewalling.  We run 
ipfilter in several machines with multiple nics.  It's a fantastic 
"product" for the money, $0.00, and improves regularly, has a good users list.

1.1 hours to deliver the last of 24 list members?  or to start delivery to 
the first member?  Do you see some failed attempts, like 'mx connect fail', 
to deliver some members in the log?  what's your smtp retry period?
