That's the A record, as in if you try going to "http://domain.com".  IMail will use 
that if it can't get an MX record.

If the primary MX record isn't resolving, the secondary MX record IS the primary.  
When IMail (or anyone else) asks a DNS server for an MX record, it gets the all.  
Whichever one has the lowest priority is the "primary" MX record.

It could be that the primary MX record points to an A record that doesn't exist, or 
that A record points to a machine that doesn't exist, or a machine that doesn't 
respond to SMTP.
