Khurram,
I'm afraid I do not know all the clients out there nor the one that you and
your people are using, so cannot give you explicit directions on how this
might be done. Many clients do have some 'timeout' field, either in the
original setup or where one can check/change the configuration. OE uses a
slide bar (Tools, Accounts, Properties, Advanced) that typically defaults to
30 seconds. Netscape and others have similiar settings.
One more thing, is the time between checks of the mailbox. This too, often
is set to a low value (5 minutes or less) and this should be increased to
something like 5-10 minutes for those on fast connections and longer for
those using slow connections. I have see errors when this 'check' time was
shorter than the time to download a large attachment, so recommend it be
greater than the time it would take to download the largest attachment one
would normally expect in a single message (10-30 minutes for dialup
connections). If a user really needs to check his mail, usually means only
the click of a button, so he can do this manually if needed.
