Magnus,
Normally, I would say that IMail uses only the account name that you have in
the database, but upon checking your server, I see that either form of
address is accepted by your server (which is somewhat unusual, unless you
have created alias(es) for one of the name forms. This might also be an
indication of some configuration related problem!). Here is the telnet
session that demonstrates this:
220 X1 NT-ESMTP Server frosunda.se (IMail 6.06 36371-1)
vrfy root
252 Cannot VRFY user
mail from: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
250 ok
rcpt to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
250 ok its for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
rcpt to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
250 ok its for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
rcpt to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
250 ok its for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
rcpt to: magnus1
550 unknown user <magnus1>
rcpt to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
550 not local host ipswitch.com, not a gateway
rcpt to: nobody
550 unknown user <nobody>
This is not at all typical! But I'm hard pressed to say, what the cause of
this kind of response might be. It almost appears that this domain has 2 (or
more!) sets of users, one in the 'last.first' and the other 'lasfirs' and
maybe one with 'first'.
Do you have more than one domain that has 'frosunda.se' or a longer form of
that name, in the Official Host Name? If you do, are all settings (including
the External DB) for those domains, unique? In the 'frosunda.se' domain
settings do you see, in the IMail list of users, all the names I show in the
telnet session, magnus.reuter, magnreut and magnus? I would expect them all
to be there, with the response I got! But if you do not see all, are the
rest in some other domain?
