Brad, You have to tell Messenger which one you want to use. Depending upon the version of Messenger, go to the following: Edit Preferences Mail&Newsgroups Mail Servers Incoming Mail Servers - Edit General - Server Type select either POP3 or IMAP I suspect that it is currently set to IMAP.
