What if you heard a conversation as the "water cooler" concerning exactly
what was in the email. Would you be obligated to run that in? I personally
think there is no difference. I think if the company has a policy of dipping
into the email bin then you as the admin should dip and hand it over to the
boss without reading it. He (the boss) should be responsible for reading he
content and acting on it. If you can't take any action against the employee
then you shouldn't be in a position to decide what is against company policy
and what's OK. I mean, what if you dipped one day and found that your good
friend's email was slanderous, you may decide not to turn that email in,
yet, say you found an email from an employee whose job you could possibly
move up into, you might be more determined to turn that email in.
So, my opinion is that the boss should be the only one reading the random
email if that's the game they want to play.
