>(the one that is using real IP)

Maybe a dumb question, but why do you only have one IP address? Have you
used all the addresses assigned to you, or did you only have one to start
with?

Thanks. I turned out that the only option to 100% resolve this issue is to
ask all of my customers to change their email settings to use
authentication, and have them all use the same existing account from the
main domain (the one that is using real IP), since virtual domains do not
allow for SMTP authorization. That's asking too much, so I left it to "relay
for local users".

Did you stop and restart SMTP?

Yes, anyone that connects and says their email address is
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]" will be able to send email. Even if:
1) anyuser is not a real account
2) They are (*gasp*) lying

When I setup the server to Relay mail for address and I specify my web
servers' Ips, I can send mail out from my regular client software (that is
on a different IP network).

Doesn't it make sense that Relay for Local hosts only will mean that
relaying will be allowed from users that are part of a local host. In other
words, I will be able to send out mail, as long as I am a user in a local
domain, but anyone else will not be able to send out any mail.

Note that any setting other than "Relay for Addresses" and "No Mail Relay"
means that you are an open relay, allowing spammers to use your service for
free. That's probably why you are listed in NJABL, ORBZIN, and ORBZOUT.

>Right now, I can open a telnet session to the server and send email from

Well, any spammer can do that, unless you use "Relay for Addresses" or "No
Mail Relay". So don't worry about it too much. If you really want to be
an open relay, and care how it is open, you should make sure that you
stopped/restarted the SMTP service.

To make sure that you are not an open relay, you can either use IMail's
"Relay for addresses" (in which case you would enter a list of "safe" IP
addresses that your users may come from; anyone not coming from those safe
IPs would need to use SMTP AUTH), or "No mail relay" (which really means
that everyone must use SMTP AUTH). Note that relay setting apply only to
outgoing E-mail, so no matter what your settings are, your users will still
be able to get mail.
