Kim: Anything in the Event Viewer? Any IP/port conflicts to note? Are you connecting via the IP or host name?
Is this box a PDC/BDC or stand-alone server? Could it be using excessive cycles synchronizing domain info., backing up, etc. that's causing the bottleneck? (Take a look at the Processor Queue Length under System in the Performance Monitor.) Any firewall/proxy server? (Double-check the browser to see if you are automatically detecting settings, or running an automatic configuration script. Also, are you bypassing the proxy server for local addresses?.)
