I don't follow every thread in this list, but I don't remember you coming 
in here with that specific issue, which I would have jumped on and 
recommended STRONGLY AGAINST putting the mailbox storage as network share 
rather than as a local disk partition.

Imail has shown some instabilities when the LOCAL DISK is badly 
partitoned/fragmented/oversize mailboxes. All of which will be much worse 
as seen over a LAN.

If MS has their MS Networking code in good shape, the network disk "should" 
work exactly, transparently as a local disk, but 10's of times slower. The 
slowness may not be a problem if you have few users and/or tiny mailboxes 
and don't use IMAP or webmail. yep, that's a lot of restrictions.  I have a 
feeling you haven't spent $$$ to work under those restrictions.

People have apparently found satisfaction running the mailbox store into 
some kind multi$ SAN or NAS, but that's not the same as vanilla MS 
networking, afaik.

hmm, that doesn't seem to have anything to do with networked mailbox storage.
