It's not that I am "insistent" on being able to make changes to my DNS
information, but rather, the only way I know to get a domain name
"connected" to a web server is for me to create an "A record" in the DNS
console for the domain I'm trying to host. I've done this for 2 years,
and it's the only way I know to "connect" a domain name registered at
DirectNic, Register.com, etc. with my web server. If I don't perform
this "A record" creation on my server, then that domain never finds
where its homepage is. Using Remote Terminal Services to make this
entry into the DNS console on my server is fairly simple, and therefore
I had no reason to believe that anything was amiss or misconfigured or
"hosed". Seeing how vital this "A record" entry into the DNS console
is, its not something I figured I should be passing on to some other
company. And even if I had a "revelation" that these "A record" and "MX
records" should be entered on some third party server, I wouldn't know
how to enter such records on a third party server.
So it's not that I am "insistent" on making changes to my DNS
information on my own server, but rather that's the only way I knew to
make domain names to work. Therefore I prefer to describe my position
as one of "relunctance" and "caution" to pass on this task to some other
company on another server out of my control.
