I have clients with PacBell.net DSL connections.
They have experienced several problems using the
        PacBell.net SMTP servers.

In one case the user was sending messages to
an Outlook-based Contacts group via BCC. The
group contained over 750 contacts. PacBell.net's
spam filters trapped the messages as spam but
        did not notify the sender.

Another client was experiencing lost messages.
Any message over x bytes was being deleted.
The sender was not notified of the x byte limit.

In both cases it took numerous phone calls and
several levels of escalation before PacBell.net
would admit to the two mail filters. The policy
        was never documented.

Yes, SMTP was never meant to be used to send large
messages and/or attachments. And the BCC trick is
a spammer tool. But if you have a policy please
tell your customers so they can adjust their
        mode of operation.
