On friday, when monitoring says smtp is down, I tested by telnet sometimes it connects and no welcome mes received and sometimes connection not established.
ok, good. Then Imail, and not the monitor, is having real problems.
About the resources, for me it is hard to believe that they are not enough.
Untested beliefs, in computers or religion, are pretty useless. At least with with computers, you really can test.

What is Imail requirements? With which resources how many users can we open.
Since your problem seems to be SMTPD, how many "SMTPD connect" lines in you Imail log per day? avg per business hour (histogram)? this week? last week?
How many incoming msgs for same periods?
For the gateway to Imail Smtpd when Imail recieve the mail and it is for local domain it doesn't send to gateway as I remember, so only return mails from postmaster will return to Imail smtpd. I will check the old logs for ant clue.
When monitor says there has a problem in smtp, as I said, I check the 25 port with telnet. So, there is a real problem with smtpd.

There are only one smtpd process and
hmm, sounds like your gateway can only make one SMTP session to one IP, rather than many concurrent SMTP sessions. You don't need 100's, but one sounds constrictive. and if it really is one, then IMail should be having NO problem keeping up with just one MTA.
Even with one SMTP session to the IMail IP, the gateway should be able to send a msg in avg session time of well under 5 secs.
3600/5 = 520 msgs/hour. peanuts
I see 1 to 3 seconds with Imgate to Imail, so that's up to 2000 - 3000 msgs/hour.
not more then 5 smtp (cause the smtp gateway)
... coherent. Imail only sends 5 mgs/SMTP connection to a gateway (unless they've changed it)
