Well, there's a bunch of stupid ISPs out there. We have RoadRunner Biz
class at our store. I believe we have 6 IPs excluding the gateway IP. A
year or so ago, RR threw them in the dial-up pool and we never could
get it straightened out. On the other hand, there are a couple of
major ISPs who won't accept traffic from RR's OWN smtp servers. But we
can send to them via our screwed-up RR IPs. A couple of months ago, we
were remodeling our pharmacy, so I moved the server to my home. With
appropriate changes to the A and MX records, it works as well as it
did at the pharmacy.

Blocking IP blocks is simply a lazy man's attempt to deal with a
serious problem. Heck, just deny connections to those who have no rDNS
and you'll lose about 15% of your legit mail. I tried that and
couldn't even get mail from some of Microsoft's servers.

On a personal note, I couldn't care less what AOL does.
