I've generally found it isn't worth the trouble to visit the type of person
that insists you take your shoes off. Esp if they don't also furnish
comfortable sandals (that have been sterilized from previous use).  Shoes
protect me from the bacteria and fungus on the typical floor of people that
dont' wear shoes.

Relevant to AOL -- personally, if you have a business contact, they can get
real email (same hard line as AOL takes), otherwise, it is not a business
necessity (and a home user can go get a hotmail account to talk to their
buddies).

Of course, ISP's can solve the entire thing --- talk DSL out of all your
reverse DNS entries and AOL is foiled again.
