I have a friend that is using his DNS servers for some of my domains. Recently we have been having all kinds of problems receiving mail so I went ahead and did a DNS Report on it at:
http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/dnsreport.ch?domain=testclear.com
I called my friend and force him to do the same report and told him to look at all those failures. He basically said that DNS Report was not reliable and that he knew everything was working properly on his side.
We've found that people say that occasionally. We even found out that one web hosting service had a "canned" response to all their customers that mentioned that there were DNS problems! Needless to say, when I asked them why they thought the site was unreliable, I got no answer. People prefer to place the blame on the DNSreport.com site rather than themselves.
That's not to say there can't be problems -- on rare occasions, someone points out a problem that needs to be fixed. But we are not aware of any open issues.
What would I do in this case? I wouldn't push the issue with your friend. He's been given an indication that there are problems with the domain. He now can decide what to do.
