Ours is a very simple setup ... using iMail database.. and our user count is
low.
Our mail relay is switched off and the usage is not high... so i doubt if
there is spamming.. but will check further.

MessageDo you have IMail set for multiple DB connections? IMail supports
multiple database connections. Enabling this feature will improve
performance when using an external database. This can be enabled by creating
and setting two registry keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ipswitch\IMail\Global\UseMultiConnect
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Ipswitch\IMail\Global\MaxConnect

The first key, UseMultiConnect should be set to 1 to enable multiple
database connections. The second key,
MaxConnect should be set to the maximum number of connections allowed, 3 or
4 should be plenty.

Tripp

Hi,

We are also facing same problem. We have only one domain with 20000 users in
external database SQL 2000. After some random 4-5 retries it is logging in.

Broadband. The connection shouldnt be the problem here as during my test, I
tried various domains at the same time.
Some domains are downright problematic .. need to at least try 3 - 5 times
to be able to login whereas the others is around 2 times.

It isnt the userid and password either as using the same id and password...
will eventually get you in after a few tries.

my usual response to my customers are .. keep trying ... :(
which i know is bad.. but i really duuno how to handle this.

However, using email clients like outlook express ... they have no problem
at all.

What kind of connection are they logging on from? (Dial up, AOL, Satellite,
EarthLink, etc.)

Make sure if they are from a virtual domain that equals full email address.

For example, [EMAIL PROTECTED], not just username.

iMail newbie
Hi folks,

I keep getting complaints from my customers that they can't login via the
webmail interface. I did some
checking and found out that ...

1. Almost all my customers will not be able to login the 1st time.
However, the rate of successful 1st time login is higher if they use
http://mail.mydomain.com:8383/login.cgi instead.

2. Some domain have higher failure rate than others. For example, I have
one whereby if i use the 8383/login.cgi link,
the failure rate (failing to login 1st time) is 30% whereas another is
100% (so far...)

In all the test, the userid and password are correctly keyed in ... I
purposely created some test accounts with SIMPLE password
and userids...

Please help, I am using iMAIL 7.12

Any info/suggestions/help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

SY Lim.
