None of those are reasons for the web forum over the current list. There have been topics that have been raised on the listserv that I would probably never have throught to "subscribe to" which of course would have limited the effectiveness of this list and its benefit to me.

Knowing who is currently online is not really all that helpful in that I doubt that Scott, Len, Sandy et. al. who provide some of the best and most salient information will stay signed in all the time nor be ready to respond on the posters time frame. Which is why a list allows them to respond on their own time which we are greatly thankful for.

I also don't see how Smiley faces and other cute pictures help the discussion either.

The old adage is true. United we stand divided we fall. Newbies that join the webforum will probably only really get assistance from Ipswitch directly and those on the listserv will get assistance from the community.


1. Ability to subscribe to an individual topic, or topics, rather than the
whole list.
2. More robust information about users, including user profiles and who's
online.
3. Graphic emoticons :-o
