David, The biggest issue is information exchange between this list and the new forum. Will this be addressed? If it is not, there is no question that the user base for each will be less than the current list, thus the support pool is smaller and the usefulness is diminished.
Please consider such integration so that your users can use the tool that suits them without losing the benefit of the larger user base. Dear IMail Forum Members: Here's the official word: This list is not going away. We have added web-based forums because, as this community so vividly demonstrates, different people have different preferences for how they do things. I encourage all of you to give the web-based forum a try, see what it looks like, read or post a message or two, what's the harm? That said, you should vote with your clicks and use the forum that best suits you. In fairness to the "mucky mucks" who worked hard to create and implement the web-based forums, here are three cool features they have that this list server lacks. Try them out! 1. Ability to subscribe to an individual topic, or topics, rather than the whole list. 2. More robust information about users, including user profiles and who's online. 3. Graphic emoticons :-o The suggestion to advertise the list server in the web forum (and vice-versa) is a good one, and I will try to give both peer support forums equal billing wherever possible. While we're here, I want to remind everybody that the IMail_Forum archive at http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ is *not* an Ipswitch creation. It's a great resource, but we don't run it. In closing, on behalf of Jill, Tripp, and the whole IMail team, I want to thank all the members of this list for their eagerness to help each other - and Ipswitch - deal with so many technical and business issues. This list is a tremendous resource for Ipswitch and our customers. Have a good weekend, David David Karp Senior Marketing Manager, Messaging Ipswitch, Inc.
