Hi all,
I need help to locate a problem my client has. Basically someone sent her
an email on Friday afternoon, but she only received it on Saturday morning.
She aint happy about it... and requested that I find out the problem and
explain what happened. Being new to all these internet protocol thingie...
I would be glad is you guys can help me out here.
Below is the email header that I have extracted...

Now .. the sender and receiver are from the same domain... normally this
should be straightforward and easy ... but i think they use
some sort of software to handle email forwarding or something ... (this part
i really dont understand ... why? wouldnt that be more
complicated?)
The only setting I am familiar with is setting incoming & outgoing email
server to my email server (mail.mydomain.com) but i think they
added another layer by using mylocaldomain.com instead.
(I made a guess based on the Message-ID containing another domain name)
I strongly believe the delay was not caused by my email server, reason
being.. i myself do not have any problems receiving or sending
email between that time ... but how do I explain this to my client? Seeing
that I have absolutely no idea what's really happening.
I am a bit confused about the header, because normally I would see that my
email server would be the in there under Received by XXXXXX
but in their case... i dont see my email server name in there. Their emails
to be carry the header below:
Received: from ProxyNow [61.6.69.46] by mydomain.com
(SMTPD32-7.13) id AB47BAF00DA; Tue, 20 Jul 2004 12:10:47 +0800

Whereas normally when others send me email, the header would be below
Received: from thewall.senderdomain.com [202.248.33.130] by
mail.mydomain.com
(SMTPD32-7.13) id A2BBB6400DA; Tue, 20 Jul 2004 08:09:31 +0800
MIME-Version: 1.0
X-Mailer: Lotus Notes Release 5.0.11 July 24, 2002
Message-ID:
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Date: Tue, 20 Jul 2004 08:17:00 +0800
I can actually see Received by XXXXXX (XXXXX being my email server)
Sorry for this long winded email... As I am not familiar with the terms.. I
had to elaborate the best I can in my limited vocab.
Please help. Thank you for your time.
