I don't think the issue is ISPs. Granted that market has dwindled. The
issue is supporting loyal customers who have supported the product and
made a long term investment under particular representations. They
could have easily marketed ISC by itself, on its own merits, to those
companies who need such a system. But they went far beyond that to
screw their existing customer base and try to force products they do
not want upon them. It is a grotesque sight.

BF> The reality of the marketplace is that there are far less ISP's to sell
BF> Imail server. In our small town we once had 20 ISP's and we're down to 4
BF> now. Given that kind of reduction is a market that doesn't look like it will
BF> be growing, what were they to do?

BF> Now, I find more and more customers thinking about their own mail servers.
BF> We've had several do this but eventually come back because they weren't
BF> really large enough to have a full-time support person. Out sourcing of
BF> email could go either way though.

BF> IPSwitch is not in a good place given the overhead they've grown to have to
BF> support. You either increase revenue or cut costs.

>>> I would recommend that all contract owners call Ipswitch to voice
>>> their
BF> concerns. I told them that we've paid for 4 professional contracts which
BF> were supposed to get us support, fixes, AND major upgrades. Considering
BF> we've never called for support, and now that they've decided to discontinue
BF> Imail, I wanted a refund. Furthermore, I was quite irritated that no warning
BF> was given to the user base about this transition. <<

BF> It's called: Deceptive business practice.

BF> You can't in good faith sell someone a '12 month service agreement' late
BF> September for a product that you know you will completely discontinue in the
BF> next few weeks.

BF> The point is not, whether a provider may be willing to "support" me for 12
BF> months - the point is that I would have not chosen to purchase a service
BF> agreement (or actually TWO) for a discontinued product. I was deceived to
BF> throw good money behind an obsolete product.

BF> I wonder if this is actionable.
