For the extra they are charging they can afford to lose lots of current clients. What they don't seem to understand is that Microsoft came out with a new licensing agreement (SPLA) for Service Providers, where it's way more affordable to run the real Exchange Server 2003, which offers far more than just an Outlook compatible Imail ICS Server with a lot less hassles is my guess. Also under the new Microsoft Certified Partner program you can get unlimited support 24 X 7 for free. This Certified Partner Program is now way easier to belong to. No more having a critical problem and waiting for Ipswitch to call you back sometime the next day while you clients seem to never sleep :)
I've been a somewhat happy Ipswitch client for a lot of years, but I think I will be moving to the real thing MS Exchange Server at the end of my newly purchased contract that is about a month old now. This should give me a lot of time to move into it slowly and carefully. Perhaps I will also examine Merak and some of the other offerings. Once a trust is broken by greed it's hard for me to ever trust that entity again. IPswitch, I hope that your new plan works well for you and your new actions are protected from class action lawsuits. Greed can be an ugly thing, instead of just being content with surviving I see people everywhere overwhelmed with greed, and now you are jumping on it and stepping on the toes of your long time loyal clients, it's really a sad thing to see from people you trust. One thing is for sure, before I pay that much for an email server again and pay several years for yearly maintenance and upgrades, I will be looking real long and hard at the EULA :) -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Colin Fetter Sent: Monday, October 25, 2004 11:17 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] Collaboration is now available :( I'm sure the fact that they will start losing customers will also serve to wake them up... Don't they offer a 30day money back offer? Perhaps anyone who has bought a service agreement or product recently should ask for their money back...
