LOL, I totally hear what you are saying and feel pretty close to the same right now. However I am still going to wait and hear what they have to say Monday and try to make that determination at that time.
Throughout my years in this industry I've worked with, around and for a variety of people with a variety of different personalities. One person making an arrogant remark like Mr. Karp did can influence the public's opinion on a whole entity, just like what happened here. While I am not tossing any stones at anyone, Mr. Karp included, perhaps he doesn't really speak for the majority at Ipswitch or even accurately relay their sediments. Who's to say, he may not even be employed come Monday! He is the Senior Marketing Manager and maybe this was his idea was his only and he's put it all on the line for this concept! Like told the rest if I can't boost your sales by Xth % then I will leave. In all fairness to Ipswitch, we will not know anything for sure until Monday. The fact that Bill Pollack posted the following tells me that maybe Mr. Karp and his marketing team may have made some bad choices and higher up sees it now. Bill Pollack posted: Ipswitch has no plans to kill, censor or modify the IMail Forum. Free speech is a good thing, even if it's not necessarily what one wants to hear. The Forum provides a significant, unique service to the IMail user base and, once we resolve the IMail-to-ICS issues, we expect it to continue to provide a valuable service. We -are- listening carefully to the Forum postings, other emails, phone calls, etc. Your input is important to us. A course of action is being planned in response to your concerns and suggestions, and we will post a detailed message by Monday night. Bill Pollack, COO (spaces and email deleted so not to cause issues) You see, some people there can see where they could have made a very bad marketing mistake, and how much this will bite them by continuing with it. This mistake could have easily been generated by one person with a very arrogant attitude that was able to sell it to the rest of management. My faith and trust is bruised at best, however I am willing to keep an open mind now that I've calmed down a bit from the initial shock of feeling betrayed and realizing there may be more to this other than what we can begin to comprehend from our limited view of what is really happening behind their doors. In summary: If I don't see 180 degree turn around and a public apology posted from or in behalf of Mr. Karp, my quest for a new answer may resume subsequently and I will echo your complete sediments 100%. Right now I am trying to keep an open mind, but it's kind of hard to do lol :) -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Bill Sent: Saturday, October 30, 2004 3:35 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [IMail Forum] A Quick Note from the Ipswitch Executive Team > Corporate greed is evil, once it starts I it can > spread like a cancer. For me, Monday's announcement is irrelevant. Ipswitch played their hand, and allowed us to see how they truly view their customer base. per David Karp: "I encourage all of you to download and evaluate ICS. If it doesn't meet your needs, I wish you success with a product that does." If they crawfish now, it won't be because they had an epiphany and realized they really liked their customers after all. They told me all I need to know, and I am going to take Mr. Karp's advice. I will not work with an arrogant company who displays contempt for their current customers. There are too many other options for that.
