Yes, but that doesn't mean you can't split the forest there. My suggestion is to use the smallest polygons that make sense according to the mapper, and when in doubt use the smaller ones. Big polygons are a hazzle when you want to refine them, especially multipolygons with lots of members. The more atomic the area mapping is, the easier is maintenance and adding further detail.
