See Ken's first point, which is a somewhat abbreviated version of all of
the changes that were made.

Most of SASLv2's changes are "under the hood" so to speak, dealing
with improved memory allocation and management, as well as more
build options (for example, you can build a static libsasl2) that can
improve performance in the long run.
