I'm getting closer to picking a Doc. Camera. I've appreciated the input I've gotten from various peeps.
AverVision 300AF+ is in the top3: Fold for portability, about 4lbs., can capture up to 80 images and bright. $570 Lumens DC160 - not quite as nice, but smaller footprint and flexible arm on cam and light. $590 AverVision CP150 - haven't got my hands on this one yet - don't know the price, but it like the cam, light and flexible arm. We are going to be offering some classes for teachers on using these in your classrooms. I think the training piece is very important. I don't want to buy technology just for the sake of having technology. Hopefully I can get one of these vendors to give me some free training. We have a couple of different models what is now the Qomo Document Cameras. (Our's were labeled Promax.) I am not impressed with the cheap model ($850) as the picture is not the greatest. The model that has is around $1200 has a nicer picture, with a lot more features. We do have some old Elmo's in the District, but those are old, not very bright, and current back at Elmo as they were recalled for a fire problem. Nice!!! The nice thing about the upper end Qomo and Promaxs, they already have the video switcher built-in to the document camera, so it takes care of two boxes that you need in the classroom. As always, that would be a problem with the projector dies and then your whole system goes with it. I would enjoy hearing what you end up standardizing on, and what drew you there. We have considered adding some document cameras, but money always keeps it from happening. The 530 is a little over the top for the typical classroom. It is big and bulky and I think we could've gotten the needed features with a smaller footprint (and $$). There are some Elmo's in our district, but I have no idea what model and they are a few years old. We would like to standardize as much as possible and your feedback is valued.
