One more gotcha about the workaround:

For a GRUB based system (nevada/S11), at the grub boot screen, "e"dit 
the default entry, "e"dit the kernel...multiboot line, append  -B 
atapi-cd-dma-enabled=0

This change will only be remembered for the current boot cycle.  If you 
wish to make the change persistant, you need to edit the grub menu.lst 
file (see bootadm list-menu and friends) after reboot.

We had an LX50 with a CD drive that had the same issue and I had to do 
the workaround and also edit the grub menu.lst file after reboot in 
order for the change to take effect permanently.
