I see a serious problem in this discussion. As far as I am concerned, the #1 question is: Is water introduced into a diesel engine instead of the diesel fuel going to flash evaporate near the top of the stroke, or isn't it? #2 question is: Is the flashed water vapor going to drive the piston long enough before it may condense back to liquid? If both of these questions are answered as yes, everything else is of a secondary importance and can be solved by proper engineering i.e. ceramic cylinders and pistons, even plastic inserts and/or coatings. The crunch is not whether the process will or will not destroy a standard diesel engine, but whether the principle is sound or not.
