I have set the timeout to 6000 and it is still giving me a 'timed out'
status.

I've found the problem (confusion about the units of time being
compared) and this will be fixed in 4.1.1 final. As a workaround, you can
set the timeout for the device very high (specifically, 60 times what you
would ordinarily want it to be). This only applies to devices using
command-line probes.
