OK, it's in the manual...but it's still Mac centric. Try doing any of this
without a mac...

I note that Windows Jpeg programs that I have looked at do not support
transparent colors. Transparent areas are supported I GIF format, but IM
doesn't support GIF. I doubt it is currently possible to create properly
functionign icons with a Mac. This is a problem in and of itself.

As J. Br�ndle pointed out, this capability already exists. He pretty much
excerpted the entire section of the manual, but here's a link to the section
in the online manual:

Note that this section also mentions that the items from the Custom Icon
Gathering Project, converted for cross-platform use, are now available in
.zip format.
