an alternative might be a 'Reason' sub-window that opens to the right of the 
status popup from a 'Reason' link in the top of the status popup window, kind 
of like a cascading menu.

Some probes (NT Services and Host Resources, to 
name two off the top of my head) can have very 
long reasons, which would push everything else 
down so that it needs to be scrolled to.

I'm not going to do a formal poll at this point, 
but anyone who feels strongly about it one way or 
the other can certainly comment on it in response 
to your post, and I'll read the comments.
