Hannes, wtf you are talking about? Nobody even thinks about abandoning it.
To make matter worse Zend is once again trying to split the community into closed enterprise discussion lists and php.net discussions.
The list is open for everybody working on a project. And everything was announced and comments solicited on php-i18n too.
