Well, Ion seems to be different in some respects. xwininfo often
doesn't give me the information associated with the window I point at,
for example (when using Ion). Something different in how the root
window or virtual window or whatever is handled? GLX works fine for
me in Ion (in both monitors), for what it's worth.

Maybe on OS X GLX is handled differently enough that whatever it is
that Ion does differently interferes. No idea how one would go about
discovering what, though, even with access to an OS X box.

The debian version takes a -printfps flag, which appears to only be
documented in the changelog, saying only that "it is silent per
default".
