The ewe's and bog's don't provide enough signal strength to "power" the xtl
set or at least I haven't figured out how to match the impedance.  With my
160' end fed random wire, up 70', it gives more than enough "juice" to work
my set.  During last year's xtl radio contest, I i'd 155 MW stations in a 10
day listening period.  Two contestants broke 200; one of which, a fellow in
Nebraska logged 250 stations with his "zero power" set.  These aren't
granddad's xtl sets.  High Q components (high count Litz 660/46), ceramic
insulated air variables and quality sound powered phones (decktalkers, RCA
Big Cans) can set one back as much as a used R8 costs.
