Steve, I didn't realize Mike had modified his "exalted carrier" set to LW. He used in the one active device MW contest before last and won, if memory serves, in 2005. Here's the description. He is a almost "savant" without the idiot part when it comes to these homebrew radios and he sure makes a beautiful set: http://www.crystalradio.us/1adradios/1ad-2005-1.htm In the 2007 1AD contest (rules allow multiple devices, divide raw score by number of active devices. An IC is 10 active devices.) Mike won with a modern homodyne 2 active device with no external antenna. He devasted the competion with over 600000 pounts. Next closest was 400000 and he didn't have to divide his raw score by 2. Scoring is a power-distance formula.
Mike says this is the finest MW dxing set bar none he has operated including a Hammie HA180A and Collins 51S-I. Here's what it looks like: http://www.crystalradio.us/1adradios/1ad-2007-2.htm#tuggle Gil _______________________________________________ IRCA mailing list [email protected] http://montreal.kotalampi.com/mailman/listinfo/irca Opinions expressed in messages on this mailing list are those of the original contributors and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of the IRCA, its editors, publishing staff, or officers For more information: http://www.ircaonline.org To Post a message: [email protected]
