Houston Putman commented on SOLR-15321:
---------------------------------------

Thanks for setting that up Jan. I will definitely set aside time in January to
sort this out, hopefully early on so we can iterate and make things good by the
time you are ready to release.
{quote}But as long as we also keep releasing 8.11.x releases from the other
repo, we need to decide on whether docker-solr/docker-solr or the new
apache/solr-docker is the master repo that we create PRs to docker-hub from.
{quote}
Let's make that switch whenever you do the 9.0 release, no real reason to do it
earlier?

If we want to do an 8.11.3/4 after 9.0, it should be easy to update this new
repo without the existing scripts, since we don't need a new folder, we will
just need to update a few ARGs in the dockerfile.
{quote}I'm a bit unsure what is the state of the actual Dockerfile.official in
main, and the whole "build image from solr-release-tarball thing. And whether
docker-folks will accept the syntax of our Dockerfile. Please shed some light
on that, what is the current status and what remains to be fleshed out or
clarified with docker-folks.
{quote}
I'm pretty sure it's in an acceptable state now. The Dockerfile.official
doesn't use any special syntax or anything, and also doesn't use builder
images. This part should be good to go (Thanks to hoss of course). There is one
issue that I think we are making the solr image ~2x as big as we need to, but
this is a completely separate issue that I will split off into another blocker.

> Assuming we (the Apache Solr TLP) do want to be the maintainer of "official"

> * what process do we use to update/manage this?
