Greetings...

I'm attempting to create a media player that'll use PATA drives for storage. I intend to use several PICs to accomplish this task, as one is not powerful
enough to handle all aspects of the media player I wish to create.

I want to use a PIC16F887 chip with 2 Hard Drives (using the CS0 and CS1 pins
for selection), and a second PATA interface for later use.

The biggest issue I have is the sheer volume of Digital media that my wife and I own.
It is not possible to limit such to 128GB (or even 2x 128GB).

How difficult would it be to upgrade the PATA code to 48bit addressing?

Also... how difficult would it be to send the music data onto a second PIC via an I2C or SPI interface?

Thanks
Lyos Gemini Norezel
