I have only been using Java3D for 3 months Java for 5 years, I have a
background using OpenGL with FORTRAN and C.  I am using java3d on an
embedded medical device(we are using java for the project and Java3d was
much more efficient than java2d).  I like the scene graph model very
much even though I am really not taking advantage of it since I am using
"Pure Immediate mode" and the "Camera-Based View Model".

  I would like to see Java3D continue to be updated and supported by Sun
and perhaps used as a scene graph on top of something like JOGL. I may
move to JOGL but I am waiting to see if that is the direction Sun is
going or if they and SGI will create a new set of OpenGL bindings. I do
like the fact that JOGL is open source.
