I certainly haven't seen it myself, but I also think that from a theoretical standpoint, Java's backward compatibility is pretty remarkable. Maybe not as remarkable as Windows', but very good nevertheless. You can probably still run Java 1.0 source and bytecode without any modification, and there is a lot of Java code running today on versions of the JDK that have been sunset (JDK 1.4 still seem very popular).
