Hi Victoria;

In all the Jaws versions that I have installed, in Verboscity / Jaws
Options, I have punctuation set at, " some ".
In the Configuration Manager / Customize Punctuation I have the punctuation
marks exclaim, quote, apostrophy, left & right paran, comma, dash, period,
colon, semicolon, less, greater, question, left & right bracket, backslash,
underline, all set to " most ", and ellipses set to all.

You can't eliminate all punctuation from being spoken / recognized because
of the way the authors of webpages & any other print sources are designed /
written / formatted. I couldn't list all my customize punctuation settings
because it would take too long but, once you start playing with the settings
you will see how Jaws reacts and then better understand how the settings
work. Hope this helps. Take care.

Mike,
It's tax time! Remember folks, if you add, IRS to the word, the, you get "T
H E I R S ". That spells THEIRS!

Thanks Mike! One other question, if I may.

Most times, when there is an apostrophe in a word, such as "can't", the
word
reads as if it were, "cant". However, sometimes, Jaws specifically
announces the apostrophe. How would you suggest this be handled?

  Many thanks! Vicky
