Delete all instances of your normal.dot file. Afterwards when you open a new document in Word, it will create a new normal.dotx template. Then you can try adjusting the font size there. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Liuda" <balciu...@gmail.com>

Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Font will not permanently change in Word 2010

I am saying YES both times and I can change it to 10, 11 and 14, but not 12 for some strange reason. Makes no sense. Any other way I can attempt to make this change, even with sighted assistance and a mouse? I truly need to make this change since my book may be in 12 rather than 14 point font and the
formatting must be perfect.
Thank you very much for all help.

so your saying, after entering on the default button, and saying yes to save changes, when you completely close word, again, are you saying yes to save
changes?
if not, this is why it's not changing.

David, I am using Win 7, JAWS 12 and Word 2010. I have only the option that is close to what you have, all documents based on the normal template. That is checked and yet it will not change the font to 12, only 10, 11 or 14. Have no idea why. Do you think there is any other way I can try to change this permanently, since that method does not work for some unknown reason??
Thank you very much.

hello try;

1, open word,

2, press the applications key, up or down arrow and enter on, font...

3, now use the tab key until you hear;
size,
now use the arrow keys,
pick your font size,
now tab until you hear;
something like,
This is a TrueType font. This font will be used on both printer and screen.
Default...
press enter,
you will now hear something like;
Microsoft Office Word
You are about to change the default font to (Default) yes button, press
enter.
now when you close word, say yes to changes of the file.
it changes the normal.docx.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Font will not permanently change in Word 2010

I have tried every method I know to change the font size in Word 2010. I use JAWS 12. I need 12-point. It was originally 14 and then when I changed it to 12, it now reads 10-point which is not acceptable. I have tried to adjust the setting to 14 to try to get it to stick and stop at 12-point. No luck. I cannot figure out how to make this a permanent template with 12-point font
which is becoming maddening.

Any help to resolve this issue will be tremendously appreciated.
