I will be here not-that-precise, it is more my "feeling" then scientific
insight into the problem, but I think dynamic proxy is not worth giving up
1.2 support, at least for a while 
(up to Jess 7.0 to keep the traditions ;o), and all the good
features from 1.2 are worth giving up 1.1, I would say. On most of 
platforms people use Java,  jdk1.2.2 is provided for a resonable time, and
most of the projects which I know use Jess, are already ported to 1.2
anyway, and most of the projects started recently, use 1.2 as well. 
I would support the same opinion as Ernst, +1 for moving to 1.2
