Perhaps you should go straight to 1.3. I do not have any deep reason for
this choice, just some anecdotal evidence. A number of students doing
thesis projects (on NT platforms) found various annoyances with 1.2.2.
They switched to 1.3 prereleases and their problems went away. Their
programs ran faster too. I had similar experiences.
Also, now that 1.3.0 final version is out, will Sun be spending much time
on 1.2?
I imagine Jess 6 final will not be finished until early next year :-)
How good will 1.2.2 look then?
