david how does one go about makeing it not freeze up when detecting a virus?
is this done with custom installation, or is it a menu choice?
also does the internet features need to be turned off, or do they not have any
conflict with jfw?
bob as far as virus detection goes, doctor solemons is or was number one for
several years.
only problem with the doctor is that all upgrades where on floppy, now i must
admit that if a virus went around inbetween that doctor solemons got the disk
out fast.
still for awhile they were best at detecting viruses based on analysis, so
even unknown viruses could be caught before people even knew their name.
norton utilities 4 introduced the same technology in version 4, so while not
as good as the doctor it was good enough that i switched to it for convenience.
because more importanly web updateing insured the latest virus protection for
known viruses, which is probley more importan than the ability to detect
unknown viruses.
about six months back network assocciates bought up doctor solemons with the
idea of makeing a virus program that offered both features, the doctors
detection engine of unknown viruses and the quick update of macafee.
one review rated the new macafee better than all others.
