Which version of JFW?
Which synthesizer?
I remember the older digital drivers for the DecTalk PC and Express used to
behave in the way you describe. The accented e in the word resume used to
always crash my computer. This used to frustrate the heck out of me since
the word resume, with the accented e, was one of the menu options of a
program we used at work called First Class Client. The fix was to update
the Dectalks drivers.

Subject: ANSI Characters Stop JAWS Cold
I've been noticing a strange trend with JFW lately. I don't know
whether it's happened since I installed something new, or just when,
but I've finally narrowed it down to this: If I come across a word
that has a high-ANSI character in it, such as the umlaut in the word
spelled R umlat-O L F as in Rolf, JFW will stop dead cold, freeze my
computer for about 30 seconds, unfreeze it, then stay silent until I
reboot. Anybody else experiencing this?
