Mr. Ellsworth,
Here's my experience with this problem and I can't find an
answer. I just built a new system and I am using a brand new DECtalk
PC2V42C synthesizer and Jfw 3.3.25 Even though it is the latest
product, it was crashing every time it incountered an acute sign in a
name and I had to reboot. I ttalked to Compaq who now alegidly
purchaced and supports DECttalk products. They told me to go back to
my vender because their technical support costs money. My vender,
who's name I won't mention will not return my calls.
I downloaded the latest driver which is pc2v42cd.exe. I think that
this has stopped the crash problem with acute signs but now a much
more incidious problem now is happening.
This problem has to do with words being broken up and pronounced,
articulating the first letter thenb the rest of the word such as,
rather than the word T H E being pronounced all together it would be
pronounced T He.
This is accurring globally in browsers, Word 97 and everywhere that I
see. Even when the DECtalk incounters a dash, it will sometimes say,
D ash. It is randum and I just can't seem to find a solution. I'm
using JFW 3.3 with the patch. Has anyone had this problem and have
you found a solution? I'd almost rather deal with the occational
crash than have it split the words up like this on a much more
frequent bases. Would be much appreciative for insight on this one.
