Hi David,
I am still hammering at this DECtalk PC word split problem. I
talked to HJ about this and didn't get too far. He suggested that we
go to the defalt config manager, settings, graphics and turn off all
ANSI charactors. That will solve the acute high ANSI charactor dectalk
crash problem. It did not solve the word split problem. He asked if
the problem was acurring on mixed case words and I noted that mixed
case processing was checked in defalt config and that was not the
case. You can watch the problem happen on a word, run the cursor
back over the word and it will say it correctly.
I have tried some changes in text delay and frequency and have not
seen any measurable change in the frequency of the problem. My
vender finally called back and suggested that there were a number of
DECtalk PC drivers around these days and he thought that
Arkenstone had a stable SSIL driver for Dectalk PC to download from
there site. Hopefully, if all of us DECtalk PC users hammer at
this and make enough noise, we will get a solution. There are enough
of us reporting this problem to indicate that there is some sort of
enstability with Dectalk drivers and it seems to have been agrivated a
bit by JFW 3.3.25.
My vender also said that the Pc2v42cd.exe driver is only a beta and I
should be using the pc2v42c.exe driver. Talk about confusing!
As always, thank you for your input. Respectfully, Karkey
