I have written on this subject before and am now doing so on my talking
pressario 1621 laptop with JFW happily chattering away.
There are indeed stores which will allow one to install speech software on
their computers to check them out; if the store or place of purchase doesn't
allow it, then they don't need my business and I will go elsewhere.
My recent shopping spot is megadepot; they do have a no questions asked
return policy. I am at present considering changing my laptop for a faster
processor, USB port, and higher capacity hard drive to better demo the
products we sell and Acer seems a likely choice. If it doesn't work, I'll
send it back or, if I decide to purchase such a computer locally, I'll go
with my jaws in my hand.
