Stacy,
In my opinion, this is a good thing. Why? Each screen reader
manufacturer is good at certain things. If there were only one out there,
lots of things would be missing from it because to some degree or another
everyone is taking each other's ideas and incorporating them into their
respective products. Here are a couple of examples:

Window-Eyes was first with a reclassification function and JFW added it later.

JFW was first to add the ability to change synthesizers while running the
program and Window-Eyes now has that feature.

The real truth is that if there were no cases where one came up
with something the other doesn't have, there will be far fewer innovations
in all of them. The truth is that HJ needs GW Micro and vice versa in
order for both to really be the best they can be.
I use both products on a daily basis because both are better at
certain tasks than others. My personal opinion is that Window-Eyes beats
JFW hands down on Internet access while JFW is far superior in MS Access
and Excel. There is no clear winner right now. They both have their place.

Regards,
Roland
